Newsworthy Highlights

The seminal element in Robeson's approach to institutionalizing Coalition principles is their whole school adoption of the 100-minute period (block schedule). This schedule is the key to changing the instructional mode to focus on authentic or "real" work.

The schools-within-a-school concept as a reality predates the label. The Care Program has existed to support potential drop-out students' successful return to classes and ultimate graduation.

The small size and personalized focus are reinforced by organizing the school in a manner that has students remaining with their teachers for two years. This creates a freshman-sophomore block and a junior-senior block. This arrangement permits closer, more intensive, and fruitful interaction between students and staff.
